ASU SkySong is joining the ever-growing ranks of coworking spaces around Phoenix! I received some news recently that they’re opening a new space for entrepreneurs on Monday, January 10th. It’s called Hackspace and is
an open community where users can come together to share resources and knowledge to build new ventures and bring life to their ideas.
This looks like it will be a great resource for entrepreneurs! If you’ve been looking for a space near the ASU Tempe campus, then check it out. You can find it on the 1st floor of SkySong.
1475 N. Scottsdale Rd. #150, Scottsdale, AZ (480) 884-1860
This year, there will be a slight change to OpenCoffee meetups in Phoenix.
The day and time will remain the same: Thursdays from 8-10am. However, unlike last year, the location will not change; it will remain the same each week: Lola Coffee on 3rd Ave. & Roosevelt. No need to remember which location it’s at this week or check another site for the location information.
Please join us for the first OpenCoffee of the year this Thursday, Jan 6. See you there!
ASU Venture Catalyst has just launched the “Win Lunch with an Angel (investor)” contest. Get a free lunch and an hour with a local Angel Investor. Talk shop, get advice or ask all those questions you have about starting a business but were afraid to ask.
I’ve been founding and helping run technology companies since 1999. My latest company is fabulis.com. Here are 57 lessons I’ve learned along the way. I could have listed 100+ but I didn’t want to bore you.
1.Build something you are personally passionate about. You are your best focus group.
For me, marketing is about values. This is a very complicated world, it’s a very noisy world. And, we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us, no company is. And so we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us.
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in partnership with the Innovations Incubator is offering a collaborative networking opportunity for entrepreneurs and businesses in the high tech and Clean Technology industries. The first Coffee and Connections meeting will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m., Thursday, October 21 at the Innovations Incubator, 145 S. 79th Street, Chandler.
This event will feature comments from Arizona Department of Commerce, Brian Sherman, Renewable Energy Initiatives Manager, who will guide attendees through the state’s grant process. He will explain how grants are funded, and how to navigate the process as entrepreneurs look to fund their ideas.
The SBDC, which was recently awarded a three-year grant to assist businesses focused on reducing greenhouse gases will also provide information on how they can help businesses identify grant funding opportunities, provide training on IP portfolio management, and create access to capital formation as businesses prepare to present their concepts and products to investors.
This is the first in a quarterly series of Coffee and Connections events to be hosted by Innovations throughout the next year. Light refreshments will be provided, and the event is free, however, space is limited, so registration is required. To register, contact Sanjay Dhole, SBDC at 480-784-0591 or sanjay.dhole@maricopasbdc.com
This event, presented by TiE Arizona and Arizona Technology Enterprises, is coming up soon and I believe that registration ends this week. This year’s focus is “The rise of the Super Angel and Lean VC.”
Come join the Arizona investment and entrepreneur community at this year’s Venture Capital Roundtable to hear the latest in financing trends for high growth entrepreneurs. How are venture capital firms investing today? What deals are they looking for? How are traditional venture funds different from the new “Super” Angels and the so-called “lean” VCs?
When: Wednesday, October 13th, 5:30pm to 9:00pm
Where: Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, Arizona
